Known for its large, compact, dark green heads and thick stalks, this classic broccoli is a favourite in the UK. It’s particularly popular for its tender texture and mild flavour – delicious steamed, stir-fried, or even raw.

Broccoli Calabrese sprouting seeds grow a central head which can reach up to 20 cm (8 in) in diameter, surrounded by smaller side shoots that continue growing even after the main head is harvested. The plants themselves grow to about 60-90 cm (24-36 in) tall, and have broad, dark green leaves.
